In 2011, 20 young men became Dafydd Lewis Scholars, bringing the total number of young men currently studying at University as Dafydd Lewis Scholars to 80.
Scholarship Value
In 2011, as a result of significant changes to Centrelink Youth Allowance, the value of the scholarship has been adjusted for new commencing scholars in order to better align the scholarship with Youth Allowance benefits. For new scholars commencing in 2012, the value of the scholarship will be $14,000 per annum, subject to annual review.
Dafydd Lewis Trust annual dinner
The Dafydd Lewis Trust Scholarship Trustees celebrated the achievements of current, former, and completing scholars at the annual dinner held on 10 September 2010 to which past and present Dafydd Lewis Scholars were invited. The dinner was held in conjunction with the Mary Jane Lewis Scholarship Foundation at University House, the University of Melbourne.
During the evening, the eleven Dafydd Lewis scholars who were completing their studies at the end of 2010 were acknowledged.
The evening also featured engaging guest speaker Tim Orton, Rhodes Scholar and Founder and Managing Director of The Nous Group consultancy.
The 2011 dinner is to be held on 9 September 2011 at University House, the University of Melbourne.
Dafydd Lewis Trust Scholar Welcome Event
At the start of the 2011 University year, Mr Bruce Anderson, Chairman of the Dafydd Lewis Trust, welcomed new and continuing Dafydd Lewis Scholars to an evening where advice was provided about managing money.
Scholars also used the evening as an opportunity to chat and network, building important relationships for the coming years.
Dafydd Lewis Trust Alumni
We are creating a database of all known Dafydd Lewis Scholars to enable past Scholars to connect with each other again as well as pass their knowledge on to current Dafydd Lewis Scholars. We have over 450 known Scholars at last count.
