Mary Jane Lewis Scholarship Foundation

When Dafydd Lewis died in 1941 he left his estate to be held in perpetual trust, to provide scholarships for boys to attend full-time tertiary education. The Mary Jane Lewis Scholarship Foundation, named in honour of Dafydd Lewis’ second wife, was created in 2004 by a group of passionate philanthropists to reflect the educational environment of today. The Mary Jane Lewis Scholarship Foundation is structured on a similar basis to the Dafydd Lewis Trust. Equity and merit-based scholarships are awarded after consideration of a combination of an applicant's academic performance, a means and asset test applied to applicants and their parents, and an interview. The key difference is that the Mary Jane Scholarship Foundation is retricted to young women. There are no restrictions on the degree course that scholarship recipients can take.
